2018 Paddington Art Prize
Artist Statement:
In this painting I have wanted to capture the the anticipation and delight of entering the native bush of the Wodi Wodi track. The track is named after the original custodians of the land in the Illawarra and is on the escarpment which contains the most extensive area of rainforest in the Sydney basin. The area acts as an important refuge for species that are affected by environmental disturbances such as development and bushfires.. The 500-metre-high Escarpment provides a dramatic backdrop to my local town of Thirroul and spans 200 million years of geological history.
